The Learning Resource Team (LRT and ALRT), part of the system-wide Special Education Department, is dedicated to the education and inclusion of students with special needs into the high school. The primary goals of the Team are to strengthen each student's academic skills, to encourage positive, active participation in their education, and to build their self-respect and respect for others. The LRT provides specially designed student instruction, individualized and based on the needs of the students. Areas covered include study and organizational skills, preparation for tests, reading, basic math, vocabulary development, the writing process, and affective support, as well as transition planning services. Students are awarded credit on a pass/fail basis.  The LRT also provides a consulting teacher program. As consulting teachers the Team works with regular education teachers, both in and out of the classroom, to improve student performance, develop appropriate instructional strategies, and coordinate the delivery of services to students with special needs. The LRT is available only to those students who have educational plans under Chapter 766 regulations.
