Young Athletes Program

Young Athletes is a free sports and play program geared to 2-7 year olds with and without intellectual disabilities. Volunteers will work 1:1 or 2:1 with a young athlete depending on their ability level to help them with the sports activities each week.

We are looking for 20-25 volunteers who can ideally meet for all six sessions or at a minimum of four sessions so they can form a relationship with the Young Athlete they are paired with. The program will be running from 9-10am on the following Sundays at Longfellow Youth Zone in Wayland:

March 29
April 5
April 26
May 3
May 17
May 31

It is an amazing opportunity and a fun way to give back to the community. Volunteers must be 16 years of age to participate without a parent and a minimum of 13 years old if a parent can accompany them. We are also able to give community service hours for school.

Volunteers can register by using this weblink:

Mattress Nerd has been paying attention to the many voices of students across the globe who have recently been calling for a change in our living habits and the way we consume and recycle.

They are working in an industry where new technology is being developed all of the time to ensure that mattresses will be longer-lasting and produced with more environmental materials, and we want to ensure that our readership understands the options available to them to be mindful with their mattress disposal.

They would love to hear from more students with a dedication to sustainability and conscientious buying so we can build on our own knowledge and be a contributor to offering an insight on how people can live more environmentally friendly.

The best essay will be awarded a $1000 scholarship for their contribution to this important cause. For more information and to apply, visit: https://www.mattressnerd.com/scholarship/.

Data backup is the responsibility of ALL students.

It is very important that everyone backup ALL important data from your MacBook Air over the weekend to Google Drive, Dropbox or with Time Machine.

Here is a link to info regarding your built in backup utility: Time Machine
Time Machine is the built-in backup that works with your Mac and an external drive or Time Capsule (purchased separately). Connect the drive, tell Time Machine to use it. Time Machine automatically backs up your entire Mac, including system files, applications, accounts, preferences, email messages, music, photos, movies, and documents. Time Machine keeps hourly backups for the past 24 hours, daily backups for the past month, and weekly backups until your backup drive is full.
