WHS Friday Message

From Principal Allyson Mizoguchi

February 13, 2026
After a very cold stretch, it was nice to see the sun come out today – just in time to usher in February break! I hope you all enjoy a fun, restful week ahead. We will welcome students back to school on Monday, February 23.

Student Highlights

Our students are constantly finding ways to engage in the community and make their mark. I’m particularly excited to share the following highlights!

  • Last weekend, our WHS Model United Nations club attended the annual conference in Boston. Lara Goller earned an Honorable Mention for her work representing Hon Sui Sen on the Specialized Committee dealing with urban development in Singapore in the 1960s.

  • Mackenzie Morris was invited to Washington, D.C., earlier this week to advocate for legislation called “Alyssa’s Law” that would increase school safety. As the founder of WHS’s chapter of Make Our Schools Safe (MOSS), she joined just a handful of other student leaders from around the country for this important visit to the Capitol.

  • This past Monday, Mackenzie Moran attended Governor Healey's 2nd Annual Youth Summit at the State House. During the summit, she connected with high schoolers from around the state to discuss and learn about mental health policies, resources, and programs.

Calling All Readers!

February break is the perfect time to find a new book to enjoy! Check out and register for the Wayland Public Schools Foundation Reading Challenge, where eager readers can download a checklist of challenges and become eligible for prizes. Kudos to Alexandra Sinrich, leader of the WHS Make-A-Wish Club, who is working in partnership with the Foundation to raise funds during this event for the local MAW chapter!

On the theme of reading, I wanted to celebrate this beautiful newsletter created by our WHS library team, Ms. Jennifer McGillis and Ms. Kitty Smith, which they sent to students and staff this week. We are fortunate to have such rich, diverse resources available to us, including an ever-changing collection of new books. Take a look!

Have an enjoyable school vacation!
