Science Clubs

Environmental Club

The Wayland High School Environmental Club promotes and practices environmental awareness throughout the school and the Wayland Community. The club meets during club meeting days in the science reference center. New members are always welcome.

Science Olympiad

The Wayland High School Science Olympiad team competes with 18 other teams in the West Suburban Science League. All 18 teams participate in meets that fall on the second Thursday of every month from October through February. Every science Olympiad meet consists of three different team-oriented events with three or four students from each school making up a team for each event.

In addition to the meets, the Wayland High School Science Olympiad team gets together every Wednesday after school starting at 1:30. New members are always welcome. Interested individuals can speak with Ms Lowen and Dr. Colson-Inam.

Robotics Club

The very FIRST robotics club is being run by Mr. Shiffler.

Computer Gaming Club

Two students have started a computer gaming club that your son/daughter have expressed an interest in joining.  The club will focus on strategy and the first game to be played is Starcraft 2. Other games will be introduced to the club as time goes by such as "League of Legends" and "Team Fortress 2" and will be explored and debated upon together as a club.

Here is a link to the Common Sense Media Website's review of the game Starcraft 2. Please note, that the "blood and gore" that is referred to in the review will be turned off while at school and that "foul language, and scenes with drinking and smoking" is part of the story line and is not in the game itself.

Please sign and send in the attached permission slip if you give your child permission to join this club and play this game.

As of now, the club will meet on Tuesdays at 3, with Dr. Rideout as the adviser.
