The Wayland High School Transitions Program
What is the Transitions Program?
The
Transitions Program supports students who are returning to school
from extended absences. Often when students are out of school for a
long period of time, the transition back into a regular school routine
can be difficult. Students in these situations need a carefully
planned transition back into school, that includes extensive close
monitoring and academic and emotional support. The Transitions
Program helps students and their families with re-entry and
re-integration to school.
How does this program help students?
The Transitions Program offers a variety of services to the students and families of Wayland High School.
> Emotional support to teens and families
> Academic assistance
> Collaboration with teachers to ensure that students can maintain appropriate coursework
> Communication between student, school personnel, medical
professionals, therapists, and other outside providers
How do I know whether or not my child is appropriate for the
Transitions Program and with whom can I speak further about the
program?
If you
have questions about the program itself, and believe your child may
need the program, you may call or email your child's counselor
directly (508-358-3706). If you have a student already in the
Transitions Program, you may contact James Chiarelli, the Transitions Program Counselor via email or phone at: 508-358-7746.
