Wayland High School is a 1:1 environment, which means that each student is expected to have a computing device every day. 

At WHS, we provide every student with a MacBook Air for their learning.  Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is not an option as we find classroom instruction and technical support to be much more efficient in a standardized environment. Additional information about the program can be found at the links to the right.

Summer Laptop Collection

• -On Friday, June 14th or Monday June 17th, bring your laptop to the library.
  -Stickers will be on the display case just inside the library doors.
  -Find the sticker with your name on it.
  -Place the new sticker over the existing one.
  -Put your laptop in the appropriate box at the back of the library (boxes will be labeled by the first letter of your last name).
  
  At the end of each day, we’ll check in all of the laptops that have been turned in and will reach out to anyone who hasn’t yet returned theirs. 
  
  

What’s going to happen to the laptop?

We’re going to wipe the hard drive and upgrade MacOS on the laptop to make sure they’re up to date and performing “like-new”. You need to make sure you back up any local files that you care about.  While almost everything we do is stored in the cloud, there are some things you might be sad to lose when we reset your computer, so please click on the linked instructions and make sure you back up local files you might want to preserve.

Insurance and Repair

We expect each family to pay an annual maintenance fee (for SY '23-'24, $60), which insures the laptop against accidental damage over the course of the school year (broken screen, water damage, broken charger, etc...) and includes coverage for one full replacement device due to accident.  Lost chargers or laptops are not covered by the maintenance fee.

Waiver of the maintenance fee is available and means that families will be charged retail costs for all repair at the below rates:
